Citizenship classes

New Americans seeking US citizenship must pass the US government mandated citizenship test. Using published materials developed for the purpose of teaching the basics of US citizenship, volunteer tutors meet on a regular basis with those seeking assistance. Classes are offered from time to time at the Peace Center, as well as by a number of LCMS congregations. Please see this web site for additional information, or contact us at

ESL classes

Few if any of the newly arrived immigrants and refugees speak English as their first language, and many arrive with only minimal fluency. Nevertheless, almost all are eager to learn. ESL classes offer the assessment, instruction and encouragement these students require to develop skills they already possess. This ministry is further enhanced through the use of the computer based Rosetta Stone language acquisition program.
