New Beginnings

New Beginnings

As Christians, we believe in the God who dwelt with man to show all how to use their hands, feet, eyes, and mouths in service to their neighbor and toward one another. In this special day of restoration provided by Christians seeking to serve refugees, relationships began that extend beyond a single day. Volunteers realized small but meaningful ways they could serve this refugee community.

Deliver Us From Evil

The common theme in facing supernatural darkness is fear—fear of creatures who hate people and have the power to harm them. But living in fear hurts. It constricts your life—affecting everything you do, from what you call children to the way you speak or dress or celebrate. Who can set people free from this fear? Only Jesus.

The very language your new neighbors speak is strange to you! And every time you turn around, you make a mistake. You need help. Where will you find it?

The Lutheran Foundation of St. Louis was the first partner, along with the initial schools that scholars attended, and Concordia Kirkwood. Since 2007, we have added a substantial number of individual donors who contribute annually. In addition, other churches and, occasionally, Lutheran schools in the metropolitan area have made a commitment.

What Are They For So Many?

What Are They For So Many?

I remember the early years of our Vietnamese ministry, when we were doing much the same sort of things CFNA is doing now. We collected food, clothing, household goods, and other necessities, and distributed them to newcomers who needed them. We taught classes in English, citizenship, and home health care, so that our people could learn as quickly as possible how to get what they needed in their new country. And constantly we faced the question: “What are these—these few resources we have—among so many?”

Phoibe Nyrumbe writes, “Education literally came knocking at my door, through a man who has become a friend, Pastor Stanish. He introduced my family to CFNA. This opened doors which enabled me to meet people who are in the same circumstances as me and gave my family hope and relief knowing that we are not alone.”
