Students are divided into three levels: beginning, intermediate, and advanced. Volunteers should choose which level they are most comfortable teaching. Volunteer should be open to share faith during lesson. Classes are offered Tuesday, 5:30-7:00 p.m.; Friday, 10:00 a.m.-12:00 noon; Saturday, 9:00-11:00 a.m. Volunteers are not expected to come all 3 days.

Knowledge of US Civics; help refugee fill out application for naturalization; some familiarity with the naturalization process is preferred. Volunteer should be comfortable sharing their faith. On the road - teaching driving. Student has their own car, permit, and insurance. Teacher must possess driver's license and have all volunteer paperwork turned in.

Prepare student for permit: learning parts of the car, driving vocabulary, and driving language that will be used during driver's test.

Provide childcare for participants of ESL programming; currently on Tuesday evenings, Friday mornings, and/or Saturday mornings - at the Peace Center.

Volunteer can come Tuesday or Thursday or only as their schedule allows. Tutor works one on one or with small group of students, which could range from age 5-18. Experience working with students is great, but not required. Tutor helps with homework, mastering English, reading, writing, and basic number skills, etc. Can also assist with student supervision during recreation time, meal time, and chapel/devotion time. Students arrive by 5:15 and depart by 7:15 p.m.

Oversee serving and cleaning up. Meal is provided - no kitchen skills required. Arrive by 5:20 and leave when kitchen is clean (around 6:20 p.m.) Tuesdays and/or Thursdays.

Volunteer to take a family to a local St. Louis attraction! From a visit to the park, to a day at Grant’s Farm, if you’re looking to volunteer with your family, this is for you. All expenses covered by CFNA.

Drive a refugee (or family) to an appointment; may be medical. Typical time commitment is 3 hours.

Sometimes this opportunity is in collaboration with the International Institute, and when it is, there is short notice.

Pick up donations from Lutheran churches or schools and take them to CFNA's storage site at St. Luke's Lutheran Church.

Sort, organize, and prepare donations for delivery to refugee families.

Take donations from CFNA's storage site at St. Luke's Lutheran Church to hotel or refugee's home.

Pick up refugee(s) and take them to the Peace Center for ESL class. Take them home after class. Tuesday evening, Friday morning, and/or Saturday morning.

Pick up students between 5:00-5:30 p.m.; take home between 7:00-7:15 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Pick up refugee(s) and take them to Peace Center for health and wellness screening; take them home. Screening usually first Saturday/month, 9:00 a.m.-12:00 noon (arrive before 11:00 a.m. Screening usually takes one hour).

Pick up refugee(s) from home and take them to Peace Center for sewing class. Take them home after class. Classes currently on Wednesdays during the day.

Pick up children, bring to Peace Center or other location for CFNA youth programming; take children home when event completed.

Serve on the planning committee starting 6 months before the event; volunteer at the event. Golf Fundraiser is usually held in October.

Help stage items that will be given to refugees at giveaway.

Be a part of practitioner team at monthly health screening - Usually meets first Saturday morning/month; 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.

Complete registration for refugees attending monthly health screening; screenings usually held the first Saturday morning of the month.

Provide childcare for refugee women attending Heart to Heart Sisters Faith Sharing one Saturday/month - usually 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. at the Peace Center.

Assist with sewing; can teach (but don't need to know how); other assistance needed includes buying material, cutting patterns, clean up, and help with driving participants to and from class.

Provide childcare while parent attends sewing class. Currently during the day on Wednesdays at the Peace Center.

Occasional need for translation of refugee's documents.

Interpret for CFNA programming; languages needed include Arabic, Dari, Farsi, Pashto
