Sowing, Reaping, and Harvesting

With Immanuel, Valparaiso’s Youth group

The beauty of fall has been extended this year in St. Louis, and the CFNA youth have harvested many opportunities to experience the season’s richness with young adult volunteers from both near and far.

In late October, Immanuel Wentzville’s youth group accompanied 15 CFNA kids to Theis Family Farms. “The High Schoolers said that getting to know the New American kids gave them perspective on some of the challenges that different kinds of people face in our country,” reflects Deaconess Janie Fisher, “No matter where we come from, we are all loved by God, and it was amazing to see how God was able to bring together this group in order to build relationships that glorify Him. I know they also had a lot of fun playing, laughing, and enjoying the day with the children!”

In November, the 7th grade class from Immanuel Lutheran School of Valparaiso, Indiana, chose to spend an afternoon with some of CFNA’s upper elementary students. The Botanical Gardens was the destination for this shared adventure. Students from both sides of the river learned about the flora and fauna in Missouri, enjoyed feeding the koi fish, and spent time in the cool crisp air getting to know one another.  “CFNA welcomes in the name of Christ, and there are always seeds being planted and watered,” commented Mrs. Prahlow, a 7th grade teacher that accompanied the group.

Both events were surrounded by the locational displays of intentional seed planting, yet the reaping of relationships rooted in love are at the core of the memories that remain. CFNA invites you to get involved, be it a day or a season, and join us in planting seeds and harvesting love.

“I said, ‘Plant the good seeds of righteousness, and you will harvest a crop of love. Plow up the hard ground of your hearts, for now is the time to seek the Lord, that he may come and shower righteousness upon you.” Hosea 10:12
