CFNA Supporters ‘Putt Around’ at Annual Golf Benefit

God blessed us with another wonderful day at this year’s CFNA Golf Benefit – a day of golf, fellowship and fundraising to support the mission and ministry of CFNA.
Twenty-nine teams competed at Greenbriar Hills Country Club on October 13. After enjoying lunch and time to meet new friends or connect with old ones, players competed in a putting contest. Everyone stood on the fringe of the practice green and putted at the same time toward a single target. One ball made it into the hole after bouncing off others. It was a fun way to start the day.
The Golf Benefit is meant to be a fund-raiser AND a friend-raiser. There are many golfers who return year after year, and there are always some new golfers who are not as familiar with CFNA. One of those golfers this year was Ken Mersmann. When asked about his experience, he said, “It was my first time playing in the CFNA Golf Benefit. What a great group of people, super well-done event, and all for a great cause! I didn’t know much about CFNA beforehand but was really impressed. Jesus calls us to action, and caring for refugees is such an important ministry!”
After golf, participants enjoyed a time of fellowship followed by dinner. CFNA Executive Director Stanish Stanley shared about the organization’s ministry, the move to our new building, and the need for a new car to be used for ESL Driving classes. He issued a challenge to raise $10,000 for CFNA to purchase and insure a car, and the attendees answered! As of the writing of this article, $8,700 has been raised.
Even though the event ended at 6:15, many people stuck around to talk. We are so thankful to all the staff, volunteers, players, and sponsors who made this year’s event one of the best ever.
