Jesus Door to Door

As a summer intern at CFNA, I was invited to join the ministry called “Jesus Door 2 Door.” I did not know what to expect or what I would gain from the experience. Looking back, I can see how amazing God is and how He worked through this mission.

Led by Pastor Tim Koch from Zion Lutheran Church in Linn, Kansas, together with members from three other out-of-state churches and St. Louis congregations - St. John's Lutheran in Morgan Ford and Messiah Lutheran on South Grand, we gathered to learn how to share Jesus' story by going door to door and talking with neighbors throughout South City St. Louis.

I was quickly welcomed by the team, made new friends, and built meaningful relationships that made me feel part of the ministry. During our training at Messiah Lutheran, each participant was given a Bible passage to study and discuss. We learned how to tell Bible stories by creating mental images rather than simply memorizing words. This method helped us understand Scripture more deeply and share it naturally with others.

That very evening, we began visiting people in the neighborhood. One young man, Hunter from Michigan, shared, "One thing that helped me grow in faith while doing Jesus Door 2 Door was that I was confirming the faith in myself by telling the story repeatedly." His words reminded me that sharing the Gospel not only impacts others but also strengthens the faith of the person sharing it.

The following day, CFNA youth joined the Jesus Door 2 Door group for a visit to the Saint Louis Zoo in Forest Park. It was a wonderful opportunity for New Americans and ministry participants to connect, learn from one another, and build friendships. Emerson from the Michigan youth group also shared, "One thing that helped me grow spiritually was seeing how kind my fellow Christians were. They set an example for me by treating everyone with kindness, and I would like to be like them."

While canvassing in neighborhoods, we met people from many different backgrounds. Some were believers, while others were not. Each encounter was unique. One woman, after hearing the Good News, responded with great joy and even began singing a gospel song. Another woman was deeply touched as 11-year-old Neema, a New American participant, confidently shared the gospel. She remarked, "God does not choose people based on age. He can use anyone who is willing to serve Him."

Jesus Door 2 Door is more than a ministry. It is a mission that brings people together with one purpose: to make disciples and share the love of Christ. Through friendship, training, fellowship, and evangelism, I saw God at work in the lives of both those who shared the Gospel and those who received it. This experience strengthened my faith and showed me that God can use ordinary people to accomplish extraordinary things for His kingdom. "My Father's glory is shown by your bearing much fruit; and in this way you become my disciples." – John 15:8
