Supporting New Americans Through Trivia
/Christian Friends of New Americans welcomed a record number of trivia players to Abiding Savior Lutheran Church on March 29th for the 18th annual Trivia Night and Silent Auction.
Thirty-one teams competed while fellowshipping and raising funds for the important ministry of CFNA. Jan, a member of Concordia Lutheran Church and long-time attendee of the CFNA Trivia events, shared, “I have a desire to help New Americans. My support is even more important in today’s climate.”

Twenty-five volunteers worked to make the evening a success, including CFNA staff, board members, students, and friends. One of the volunteers was board member Lisa Holderle, who said, “I wanted to volunteer for trivia night because there is always a need for helpers at an event of this magnitude. It’s a fun way to meet people and mingle with friends. Plus, I was able to bid on and win two of the auction items! Because of the personal testimonies that were given that evening, I think the ministry of CFNA will be impacted because more people will realize the mission of CFNA and the great work it does, and hopefully support the organization with their time and treasures.”
Executive Director Stanish Stanley and longtime volunteer Joanie Harwell led the evening as MCs, reading questions and answers, and encouraging people to bid on silent auction items. Attendance prizes were handed out by some of our New American friends and volunteers. Trivia players got to hear about the different ministries of CFNA throughout the evening.
The event was sponsored by Thrivent, Ascension Lutheran Church, Telle Tire, Resurrection Lutheran Church, Judith & David Meyer, Concordia Lutheran Church, the Tuesday at Two small group from Webster Gardens Lutheran Church, Messiah Lutheran Church, Ed & Lisa Holderle, Jim & Vickie Dankenbring, Tom & Joyce McCain, an anonymous donor and Ted Drewes.
Overall, the evening was a great success, raising over $21,000 for the ministry and scholarship fund of CFNA. A big thank you to all who participated!
