A Party for All – CFNA’s Building Dedication
/CFNA really knows how to throw a party! On Sunday, September 21st, CFNA had an open house combined with a dedication service. The new building was spruced up with a new temporary sign, gold and silver helium balloons, and fresh pots of mums.
People began arriving before the start time of 2 o’clock, and everyone was excited to see our new location. After signing in and getting a name tag, attendees were given a “passport” that listed all of CFNA’s ministry areas. The passport was to be taken to each of the physical locations in the building where that ministry service happens. Then, the passport holder would get their booklet stamped when he or she visited that area. Completed passports, along with the traveler’s name and contact information, were then entered into a drawing.
The refreshments were delightful – there were Middle Eastern-style cookies, “regular” cookies, brownies, nuts, fresh fruit,...You name it!
At 2:30, there was an official ribbon-cutting ceremony, followed by a dedication service led by Rev. Randy Asburry. His message focused on hospitality and CFNA’s desire to reach out to strangers. A short video was shown that spoke to CFNA’s mission, ministry, and the specific needs of the new building.
Pastor Matthew Clark was thrilled to see the number of pastors that were in attendance. He remarked, “There were over 20 pastors in attendance and one was from Saint Charles! These pastors now know more about CFNA and can take this information to their congregations.”
As the day drew to a close, there were smiles on everyone’s faces. Two very exciting things happened right around that time: First, a neighbor who lives a few doors down from the new building, came in to volunteer her time (amazing)! Second, a New American/refugee walked up to our front door asking in broken English what we do. Amy Ziegler took him under her wing and introduced him to CFNA. Hopefully, we can be of assistance to him as he navigates life in the United States.
As the saying goes, a good time was had by all!
