CFNA Welcomes its Volunteer Coordinator: Pam Vue

Hi, I’m Pam, the new Volunteer Coordinator at CFNA! I first learned about CFNA during my time at Concordia Seminary and was touched by its work serving refugees and other New Americans. As a first-generation Hmong American whose parents fled Laos during the Secret War, I grew up translating for my family. While I once felt sheepish about that role, I now cherish it as a formative part of my story. Growing up in a cross-cultural household shaped my understanding of how challenging it can be to navigate language systems and culture in a new country. Because of that, CFNA’s mission to support and walk alongside refugees and other New Americans resonates deeply with me.

I grew up in Fresno, California, and hold a degree in Child Development from Fresno State (GO DOGS!) with a linguistics minor in Hmong, my native language. I have experience working with students of all ages, as well as teaching English internationally. I was also pursuing a degree in Spiritual Care through the Deaconess Program at Concordia Seminary, and am excited to put my faith into action in practical ways through my work at CFNA. In my new role, I look forward to connecting and equipping volunteers to serve alongside the meaningful work God is doing through CFNA.
