Transition Update Part 2

Rev. Dr. Douglas Rutt

The transition of leadership within Christian Friends of New Americans marks a significant chapter in the organization's journey. Founded with a vision to extend a helping hand to newcomers, the founders, Allan and Carol Buckman, have laid a solid foundation built on the love of Christ and the love for our neighbor, with a commitment to aiding refugees and immigrants in their resettlement process. In the previous issue of eNews, I reported on the initial steps the board has taken to facilitate the transition of leadership.

As the torch passes to new leadership, there is a sense of continuity and renewal. The transition is not merely a change in personnel but a testament to the enduring nature of the organization's mission. With fresh perspectives and a continued dedication to fostering a welcoming community, the new leadership will carry forward the legacy of the founders, ensuring that Christian Friends of New Americans remains a beacon of hope and support for those seeking refuge and a new beginning. The seamless handover reflects the resilience of the organization and its unwavering commitment to building bridges of friendship and understanding with New Americans and extending the same to LCMS congregations.

We express our heartfelt gratitude to God for the dedicated service of our esteemed Executive Director, Dr. Stanish Stanley, in serving Christian Friends of New Americans (CFNA) with unwavering commitment and compassion for almost seven years. As we embark on this transition of leadership, our aim is to fully transfer authority in the operations of CFNA to Dr. Stanley by April 1. This strategic decision is made with the utmost confidence in Dr. Stanley's capabilities and vision for the organization's future. Board member Gary Uhlemeyer has been appointed as a facilitator to help with the transition. We anticipate a smooth and efficient process that will ensure the continuation of CFNA's impactful mission. Together, we look forward to building upon the foundation laid by Allan and Carol and advancing the cause of providing support, friendship, and Christian witness to newcomers under Dr. Stanley's capable leadership.
